Former Sanford Medical Center President Dennis Millirons was given $1.3M+ in severance: 5 notes

Fargo, N.D.-based Sanford Medical Center's former President Dennis Millirons received more than $1.3 million as part of a severance agreement, according to a WDAY 6 ABC report.

Here are five notes:

1. Mr. Millirons served as president of the medical center from 2009 to 2013.

2. Sanford Medical Center bought out the remainder of Mr. Millirons' contract in November 2013, when he was replaced by Paul Richard. Mr. Richard was previously Sanford's chief legal counsel.

3. At the time, Sanford did not discuss the terms of Millirons' severance deal, but "acknowledged the payments were made under his contract," according to the report. The information was recently disclosed after a filing with the Internal Revenue Service was made public.

4. After the buyout of his contract, Mr. Millirons was named an executive vice president.

5. Earlier this month, he was named interim president of Rapid City (S.D.) Regional Hospital.
