Former Lifespan CEO George Vecchione Made Almost $8M in 2011

George Vecchione, former president and CEO of Lifespan in Providence, R.I., received $7.9 million in total compensation in 2011, according to a WPRI report.

Mr. Vecchione retired from the four-hospital health system at the end of 2012. Timothy Babineau, MD, replaced him.

WPRI found that Lifespan paid Mr. Vecchione more than $39 million from when he was hired in 1998 to his retirement. His compensation was scrutinized in the past, as well. In 2009, Mr. Vecchione earned $9.5 million.
