Former Cape Cod Healthcare CEO Got $2M After Resignation

Richard Salluzzo, MD, received more than $2 million in compensation from Hyannis, Mass.-based Cape Cod Healthcare after his resignation, according to a Cape Cod Times report.

In November 2010, Dr. Salluzzo stepped down after serving as CEO since July 2008. He said he had accomplished what he set out to accomplish sooner than he anticipated. Despite resigning early in fiscal year 2011, reports filed with the state attorney general's office show he still earned about $1.3 million in that fiscal year and $1.1 million for fiscal year 2012, making him the highest-paid CCH employee during those years, according to the report.

He also received compensation during fiscal year 2013, although the specific amount has not been made public. During his last full year of employment (fiscal year 2010), he earned less than $1 million, including $835,609 in salary, $23,967 in other compensation and a benefit plan worth $78,618, according to the report.

Dr. Salluzzo was succeeded by Michael Lauf, former CCH vice president and COO. During fiscal year 2012, his first full year of employment as president and CEO, Mr. Lauf earned $823,886 in salary and $32,432 in other compensation. He also received a benefit plan worth $138,900, according to the report.
