In an op-ed to the Hartford Courant, Joseph Walton, a retired health insurance industry employee said “hospital executive compensation is too often driven by metrics associated with maintaining and increasing revenue” instead of by factors associated with the “Triple Aim”, a concept championed by former CMS Administrator Don Berwick, MD: lower costs, better health quality and better population health.
