The survey data looked at compensation for three types of non-physician providers: CRNAs, physician assistants and nurse practitioners. Here are some of the key findings on those non-physician providers:
• In 2010, median compensation was $151,539 for CRNAs, $96,408 for PAs and $89,800 for nurse practitioners.
• Non-physician providers made the most in the western part of the country, as median compensation was $160,045 for CRNAs, $100,132 for PAs and $94,482 for nurse practitioners.
• CRNAs reported higher compensation in hospital-owned practices while PAs and nurse practitioners reported higher compensation in non-hospital-owned groups.
• CRNAs working in a multispecialty group reported a 6.1 percent increase compared with CRNAs working in a single-specialty practice. PAs and nurse practitioners reported similar compensation between multi- and single-specialty groups.
