Hospital Employment Continues to Grow, Doubling 2009 Figures

Hospitals reported 8,000 payroll additions in November and 42,200 so far in 2010, doubling the jobs created in the same time period last year, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Hospitals have reported four months of employment growth since August, even as many hospitals across the country report mass layoffs and reduce staff salaries. The healthcare sector, which includes hospitals, walk-in clinics, donor banks, physician offices and more, reported 19,200 added jobs in November.
