The health system learned of the potential disclosure after an employee notified the Memorial Hermann Privacy Office she received a letter from a primary care physician with whom she had no prior relationship about needing an annual physical, according to the report.
Memorial Hermann’s investigation into the matter suggests employee groups health plan enrollment files were delivered to a primary care physician assigned to those employees by the system’s health plan, Memorial Hermann Health Solutions, according to the report.
Disclosed information includes names, phone umbers, birth dates, last known mailing addresses and member identification numbers. Memorial Hermann has requested all primary care physicians who received enrollment files with this information to return or destroy the print-outs. Currently, the health system has no indication any employees’ information has been seriously compromised, according to the report.
Memorial Hermann did not immediately respond to Becker’s Hospital Review‘s request for a comment.
