Dr. Safyer is an accomplished physician leader and a highly respected healthcare executive. As president and CEO, he has been a leader in expanding Montefiore’s ambulatory healthcare network and developing innovative business and clinical strategies to provide care management under prepayment arrangements. Dr. Safyer has also strengthened Montefiore’s partnership with Einstein College of Medicine, which has resulted in enhanced specialty care services at the hospital.
Dr. Safyer has been serving Montefiore since 1982. Previously, he served as senior vice president and CMO. He received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in social medicine at Montefiore.
Dr. Safyer currently serves as secretary of the executive committee and the board of governors for the Greater New York Hospital Association. He also serves as chair of the League of Voluntary Hospitals and Homes and a board member of the Hospital Association of New York State. In addition, Dr. Safyer is a frequent lecturer on topics including health information technology, population-based medicine and public health. He has authored and co-authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, covering subjects ranging from electronic medical records to population health management.
