The health needs assessment focused on the systems’ shared service areas, including Dauphin, Cumberland, Lebanon, Perry and northern York counties. The assessment revealed a need for better access to primary care physicians, specialists and preventive care.
While the assessment did not find a high need for an additional hospital, PinnacleHealth said its plans for a new hospital in Cumberland County within six miles of Holy Spirit Hospital will not be affected. Barbara Terry, PinnacleHealth’s vice president for mission effectiveness, said the health system’s own market research and survey of its patients demonstrated a need for the hospital, according to the report.
