Where youth are most, least at risk in the US

Washington, D.C., has the most at-risk youth in the nation, followed by Louisiana, according to an analysis by WalletHub.

For the analysis, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the nation's capital in 14 key metrics, including the share of disconnected youth; labor force participation rate among youth; youth poverty rate; share of overweight and obese youth; share of youth without a high school diploma; and share of youth illicit drug users.

Here are the places with the most at-risk youth in the U.S., based on the analysis:

1. Washington, D.C.

2. Louisiana

3. Mississippi

4. Nevada

5. West Virginia

6. Arkansas

7. Delaware

8. Oregon

9. Alabama

10. New Mexico

Here are the states with the least at-risk youth.

1. New Jersey

2. New Hampshire

3. Maryland

4. Connecticut

5. Minnesota

6. Massachusetts

7. Utah

8. North Dakota

9. Iowa

10. Kansas
