Vista Health System has proposed a 132-bed acute-care hospital adjacent to its freestanding emergency care center in Lindenhurst, Ill. Opponents say the area already has too many hospital beds, while proponents say those beds are concentrated in the eastern part of Lake County, leaving people in the western area underserved, according to the report.

“The state Health Facilities and Services Review Board is expected to vote on the proposal in February,” the report stated.
