The toolkit was developed as part of VHA’s work as a Hospital Engagement Network.
The EED toolkit includes the following tools and resources:
1. Getting started overview. A clinical checklist that provides best practices to hospitals for planning and implementing patient education and community outreach programs.
2. Patient education tools. Fact sheets, FAQs and infographics about EED risks to aid in patient discussions.
3. Ideas for reaching the community. Strategies to help engage community advocates in EED education efforts
4. Resources for clinicians. Published research and scientific evidence, third-party data and additional materials on the medical risks of EED for clinician and staff education.
