Charlottesville, Va.-based UVA Health Children’s is nearly doubling its neonatal intensive care unit.
The 60-bed NICU is regularly at capacity, so to provide better care to local residents, the hospital is adding 40 more beds to the unit, according to an April 21 system news release.
The expanded unit is expected to open in 2028. Following its completion, the hospital plans to expand its pediatric intensive care unit as well.
