UPMC Lock Haven (Pa.) has paused several outpatient services after a fire May 26, though its emergency department reopened the morning of May 27 after a brief overnight closure, a UPMC spokesperson confirmed to Becker’s.
The fire originated in an HVAC unit on the roof of the hospital’s outpatient services building. As a precautionary measure, the emergency department was evacuated and closed while the building’s owner, Allaire Health Services, assessed damage.
Four patients receiving care at the time were safely discharged or transferred. No injuries were reported.
The outpatient emergency department, laboratory and imaging services reopened at 7 a.m. May 27. Third-floor outpatient services — including podiatry, orthopedics and rheumatology — remain temporarily closed as the facility works to restore elevator operations.
