University of Chicago Halts Plan to Redirect ER Patients

The University of Chicago Hospitals has decided that it will no longer move forward with a plan to redirect emergency room patients to other facilities, according to a report by the Chicago Tribune.

The controversial plan, which was announced last month, would have directed patients who reported to the hospital’s emergency department to other facilities in an attempt to cut costs and reduce patient wait times.

University officials intend to explore other proposals to address these concerns.
