A vehicle pulled up to the ED entrance at 2:17 a.m., transporting two women and a man who were reportedly shot following an altercation at a nearby nightclub, according to AL.com.. Police say a second vehicle pulled up outside of the ED, and at least two suspects opened fire on the first vehicle, though no one was struck, according to a separate report from AL.com. Gunfire hit a UAB police car and a hospital window.
“Out of an abundance of caution, the emergency department was locked down for roughly two hours while police secured and investigated the scene,” a spokesperson for UAB Hospital told Becker’s.
The two women in the vehicle were pronounced dead at the hospital. The man is being treated for life-threatening injuries, according to AL.com. Two other women arrived at the hospital via a private vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries. Police have not arrested any suspects in the case.
