Part of the Ty Cobb Healthcare System, the new hospital will receive inpatients from Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston, Ga., set to close soon after all patients are transferred to the Lavonia-based facility.
For financing, Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center relied on investments from NGTC Health Properties, a development group comprising physicians, many of whom will work at the new hospital.
Ty Cobb Regional is named after the baseball legend whose family financially supported the construction of the original Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston.
