Texas Legislature Passes 8% Medicaid Cut for Hospitals

The Texas Legislature has approved a two-year budget that cuts the state’s spending by $15.2 billion and includes cuts in Medicaid payments to hospitals, according to a Star-Telegram report.

On Saturday, the Senate was the first to pass the budget with the House following only two hours later.

The cuts to Medicaid include an eight percent cut in Medicaid payments to hospitals, according to the Texas Hospital Association.

The budget will now go to Gov. Rick Perry for his signature, according to the report.
