The contract is retroactive to Jan. 1, 2014. Under the deal, Tenet hospitals and facilities will accept Aetna and Coventry health plans offered through the health insurance exchanges, established by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, in seven different markets. The exchange plans went live this year.
In addition, Tenet and Aetna will continue to create accountable care organization structures throughout Texas and Arizona.
Last year, Tenet President and CEO Trevor Fetter said he expects reimbursements from exchange plans will be comparable to other rates from commercial payers.
