Pioneer ACOs started out receiving payments for reporting data on 33 quality metrics to CMS. This year, they are scheduled to move from pay-for-reporting to pay-for-performance. In February, several Pioneer ACOs sent a letter to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, asking CMS to delay tying pay to their performance and to reconsider the program’s quality benchmarks.
This week’s CMS decision rejects that plea, and Pioneer ACOs’ pay will be linked to performance this year, according to the report.
