According to the release, under the agreement, Suburban will join Johns Hopkins in early fall 2009 but will retain its name and its voluntary medical staff and physician organization. In addition, Suburban will operate under the direction of the Johns Hopkins governance structure, like other hospitals in the system.
“With this plan, the goal is to unite two strong health care systems with a shared vision of providing both the highest quality care and greatest access for our patients,” Edward D. Miller, MD, dean and CEO of Johns Hopkins Medicine, said in the release.
