The project includes plans to expand its satellite facilities, remodel its inpatient rooms, renovate its existing intensive care unit and recruit specialists.
The project does not, however, include plans to reinstate maternity services as the hospital had originally hoped. According to research, the current birth rates in the area are too low to warrant the investment. Instead, the hospital will develop a full program of pre- and post-natal care with delivery at St. Luke’s in Bethlehem, Pa.
The project will be completed over the next two years.
