The health center is piloting the “Call-Ahead ER” program as part of St. Joseph Mercy Health System, which has locations in five counties in southeastern Michigan. Under the program, patients who need to go to the ER can call ahead to notify staff of their situation, according to the report.
The program is designed to reduce wait times and enable to staff to better prepare for incoming patients.
