University of Rochester Medical Center, Pluta Cancer Center Sign Memorandum of Understanding

The University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medical Center and Pluta Cancer Center in Rochester, N.Y., announced they have signed a memorandum of understanding that may lead to a merger.

Under the proposed partnership, the treatment, research and clinical trials available at URMC’s Wilmot Cancer Center would combine with the patient-centered care at Pluta Cancer Center to enhance cancer care in the community.

Officials from URMC and Pluta Cancer Center said a formal agreement may take several months to finalize, according to the release. The proposed merger would be subject to regulatory approval.
