Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield, Athens Limestone Hospital in Athens, Decatur General Hospital in Decatur and Parkway Medical Center, also in Decatur, filed the notice with the Alabama State Health Planning and Development Agency. The notice is in response to a certificate of need application by Brentwood, Tenn.-based RegionalCare Hospital Partners to replace Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence, Ala.
The hospitals that filed the notice said they are not opposed to a new hospital but have questions about RegionalCare’s plans. Specifically, the hospitals cited RegionalCare’s failure to name a specific site for the proposed hospital, a lack of information supporting projected increases in revenue and inpatient admissions, a lack of interest costs for financing the facility and the inclusion of more beds than the state health plan identified as necessary, according to the report.
