Davenport, Iowa-based ORA Orthopedics will end its partnership with MercyOne at the end of the year, citing a shift in values following Genesis Health System’s transition into MercyOne.
“For more than 60 years, ORA Orthopedics has been proud to partner with Genesis Health System, working together to care for generations of families across our community,” the group said in a Sept. 22 statement. “However, with the transition of Genesis into MercyOne, we have experienced a shift in values that no longer aligns with how we believe exceptional orthopedic care should be delivered.”
Effective Dec. 18, ORA will no longer provide orthopedic emergency or trauma coverage at MercyOne Genesis East Hospital in Davenport or MercyOne Genesis Illini Hospital in Silvis, Ill. The group said the move was difficult but necessary to “remain true to our mission of putting our patients and their care first.”
ORA emphasized that it will continue to provide care across its existing clinics, urgent care sites, and UnityPoint hospitals in Bettendorf, Iowa, as well as Rock Island and Moline, Ill.
“Earlier this spring, ORA Orthopedics initiated the termination of our longstanding partnership without cause,” a spokesperson for MercyOne said in a statement provided to Becker’s.
“Since then, MercyOne Genesis has advanced our efforts to redefine and expand orthopedic care throughout the Quad Cities and Clinton communities, which includes introducing new providers and additional locations to complement our robust care offerings in eastern Iowa,” the health system said. “This expansion began earlier this summer and will continue for the next few months. Patients may continue to look to MercyOne Genesis and MercyOne Clinton Medical Center for uninterrupted care in orthopedic services and beyond.”
Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health acquired MercyOne Health System in 2022 and rebranded Genesis Health System as MercyOne Genesis last year.
