Grande Ronde Hospital and Clinics and Eastern Oregon University, both in La Grande, have launched a partnership to expand healthcare access for students and strengthen connections between local providers.
Through the partnership, students will access healthcare services at Grande Ronde Hospital and Clinics, located two blocks from campus, and can establish care with local providers and request same-day appointments through the clinic’s patient portal, according to an April 15 university news release.
Eastern Oregon University will shift from an on-campus student health center model to a community-based approach. The on-campus student health center will close June 12 at the end of the spring term.
The community-based model is intended to increase access to a wider network of providers and provide continuity of care beyond graduation.
“We’re proud to work alongside Eastern Oregon University to help care for students close to where they live and learn,” Grande Ronde Hospital President and CEO Jeremy Davis said in the release. “Partnerships like this matter in rural communities, and this one helps ensure students have access to quality care while strengthening the ties between our organizations.
