Northwestern Memorial to Buy Lake Forest Hospital

Northwestern Memorial HealthCare in Chicago will purchase Lake Forest (Ill.) Hospital for an undisclosed sum, according to a report in the Chicago Tribune.

As part of the deal, Lake Forest will become a subsidiary of Northwestern Memorial.

Northwestern Memorial has been in discussions with Lake Forest for several months, and Northwestern may be financing the replacement of Lake Forest’s current facility, which is 67 years-old, according to the report.

Northwestern has been working to expand its services to suburban Chicago for some time, including the purchase of $9 million of land in Northbrook in 2007.
