West Lakes will be the first new hospital to open in Des Moines in over 40 years, and will be the only hospital in Des Moines for a “few weeks,” following the closure of the 103- year old Mercy Capitol Hospital, according to the report. In October, a new competing facility, Methodist West Hospital, is expected to open.
