Northern Nevada Health System based in Reno has reopened two facilities Aug. 28 after evacuation orders related to the Hawk Fire prompted their closures.
The emergency room at North Valleys, an extension of Northern Nevada Medical Center, resumed normal operations at 7 a.m. PDT after closing Aug. 22, according to an Aug. 28 news release shared with Becker’s. The 24/7 standalone emergency department reopened after an emergency management team assessed the facility for safety, cleanliness, product management, equipment testing and air quality.
Northwest Specialty Hospital, an extension of Northern Nevada Medical Center, also reopened and began accepting returning patient transports and new admissions Aug. 28. The facility was evacuated Aug. 22.
Northern Nevada Health System operates two acute care hospitals, a specialty hospital for acute rehabilitation and adult behavioral health, 24/7 freestanding emergency departments, outpatient clinics and two joint-venture ambulatory surgery centers.
