The 421-bed hospital will increase ED examination rooms from 36 to 40. MRMC is leased by Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems and serves approximately 75,000 ED patients annually.

The ED will also be designed to have resources, equipment and services closer to patients, said Jim O’Loughlin, CEO of MRMC. The entrance, canopy and ambulance entrance will be redesigned to improve the emergency room’s patient flow. Additionally, there will be six fast-track stations and exam rooms specialized for elderly patients, Mr. O’Loughlin said.

The ED renovation will begin in January and is anticipated to be finished in 2020.
