The Cleveland City Council held a briefing to discuss how the closure of Huron Hospital — including its trauma center — has affected Cleveland emergency medical services’ operations over the past six months. The meeting specifically focused on overall ambulance response time for emergency medical calls in neighborhoods where patients were previously transported to Huron Hospital, according to the report.
At least one resident suggested the lack of emergency services in the area was partly responsible for a stroke victim’s death, as the transportation time to emergency services was longer.
The council members said the city is working to improve EMS’ operations, according to the report.
