Six states — Arkansas, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oregon and Vermont — are the first recipients of the State Innovation Model awards created by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The states will use the funds to test multi-payor payment and service delivery models, including accountable are organizations and other CMS initiatives, across the state, according to the news release.
HHS also awarded funds to 19 additional states to further develop proposals for healthcare transformation.
