This is Kaiser’s first on-site medical clinic in Colorado, located in the lobby of the Aurora Municipal Center, where 1,300 of Aurora’s 2,700 city employees work.
The Employee Health Center opened Jan. 13 and is staffed by Kaiser medical providers who perform routine services such as annual physicals, some immunizations and pap smears, as well as treatment for minor injuries.
The health center is open to city employees only, both Kaiser Permanente members and nonmembers, with some restrictions. Employees must be benefit-eligible to use the facility, according to the report, so anyone with a high deductable health plan, Senior Advantage Medicare Plan or those covered by Medicaid cannot receive treatment at the center.
Donna Lynne, executive vice president of Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and Health Plan, said the employee health center is a prototype for other large buildings with employees signed up for Kaiser. “We provide care to the state of Colorado, so I think we’ll expect a few inquiries about this from other cities,” she said in the report.
