The hospital, Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center, is a state-of-the-art 427,000 square-foot, 248-bed hospital featuring electronic medical records, according to a story in the Vallejo Times-Herald.
The hospital, whose price tag has risen from an original estimate of $350 million to the $400-million range, was originally slated to open in 2008 and then in the fall of 2009, according to the Times-Herald.
The old Kaiser Vallejo hospital tower, which dates to 1973, will be used for office and storage space until it is eventually demolished to make room for parking, according to the Times-Herald.
