The Johnson Memorial Hospital Authority also received state approval to relocate 27 acute-care beds from Johnson Medical Center in Smithfield to its new Clayton campus, according to the report. Johnson Health is expected to spend $28.6 million to relocate the beds on top of the $30 million the system has already invested in the new campus.
Diagnostic imaging and laboratory facilities and two operating rooms are already open at the campus, and a three-story physicians office building and a freestanding emergency department are expected to be completed this year. The addition of the acute-care beds will is the final piece in the conversion of the facility to a full-service hospital, according to the report.
