Harrison County Hospital in Corydon, Ind., has suspended obstetric services due to a lack of obstetric providers, effective March 31, according to a statement on its website.

“This decision was made after careful evaluation of physician recruitment challenges nationally and the hospital’s commitment to ensuring viable, quality care for patients,” the hospital said. “Despite extensive efforts, recruitment challenges made it unsustainable to continue offering labor and delivery services at this time. Hospital leadership is committed to the communities we serve, with the expectation to provide quality care for expectant mothers and their infants.”

HCH added that it is actively engaging in recruiting full-time and qualified obstetric providers to serve the facility. It also emphasized its commitment to ensuring a smooth transition for patients.

Patients will still be able to receive gynecological care through Women’s Healthcare of Southern Indiana in Georgetown.

As of April 2, Becker’s has reported on 11 hospitals ending maternity care in 2025, including HCH.
