Illinois’ Cook County Breaks Ground on Oak Forest Outpatient Facility

Cook County (Ill.) officials gathered to launch the first phase of transitioning Oak Forest (Ill.) Hospital into an outpatient health center.

Last September, the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board approved ending acute-care services at Oak Forest Hospital. The hospital’s transition to an outpatient health center is expected to save the county and health system it operates millions of dollars.

The first phase includes redevelopment of the E Building on the Oak Forest campus. Attendees included County President Toni Preckwinkle and Cook County Health and Hospitals System CEO Ramanathan Raju, MD.
