“It’s yet another way we are supporting local communities now in their efforts to provide better care and lower cost,” Sec. Sebelius said in a statement.
The 26 projects receiving funding today split a purse of $122.6 million. Another batch of awardees will be announced in early June.
According to the budgets of each submitted project, HHS estimates that the innovation investments will save more than a quarter of a billion in the long run.
The projects are located in urban or rural areas and include collaborations between hospitals, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, technology innovators, community-based organizations and patient advocacy groups.
