Adventist Health System began operating the hospital in 2010. Most hospitals within the system are named “Florida Hospital” with their respective location. Adventist officials said renaming Helen Ellis with a similar name would help the hospital’s branding and marketing.

City commissioners approved the hospital’s name change request this week, as it’s built on city-owned property.
