HCA and First Choice ER formed the Hospital and Emergency Care Alliance to improve access to emergency services and quality of care. The organizations have formed a Joint Quality Assurance Team to support quality assurance programs and ensure regulatory compliance with national quality measures.
Under the agreement, HCA will ensure bed availability so First Choice ER can transfer patients needing acute-care services to a nearby HCA facility. HCA will directly admit transferred patients, bypassing the emergency department, if they meet non-emergent criteria.
In addition, First Choice ER will have access to the HCA Transfer Center, a 24/7 call center to coordinate patient transfers for hospital admission.
