The hospital is closing the ICU due to decreased patient demand for critical care services, according to the release. Erie VAMC will work with local community hospitals to provide patients critical care services when needed.
In addition, the hospital will no longer offer inpatient surgeries. Currently, more than 95 percent of Erie VAMC’s surgical procedures are outpatient surgeries, according to the release.
