Construction had been delayed in July as plans for the new facility were being finalized.

Jamestown Hospital, which is building the new facility, applied for $46 million in USDA Rural Development loans. If approved by Sept. 30, officials from the hospital say groundbreaking will begin in October. If approved after Sept. 30, construction will begin in April 2010, according to the report.

The medical center will include inpatient and outpatient services as well as newly designed waiting areas closer to individual services and a new emergency department.

The new medical center could open in June 2011 if construction begins in October; otherwise, the target opening date will be Nov. 2011.
