The bill would build the new patient tower with more high-revenue-generating beds at John Dempsey Hospital and would increase its total bed count from 230 to 234, according to the report. In addition, 40 neonatal intensive care beds would be transferred to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford.
Conn. Gov. M. Jodi Rell has pledged to sign the bill, which also would create a state network of hospitals for cancer care and includes improvements at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, an institute for health disparities and a primary care institute at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, according to the report.
