The FHA contract is in partnership with The Health Research & Educational Trust, an affiliate of the American Hospital Association. By focusing on 10 areas for quality improvement, PfP’s goal is to reduce preventable complications by 40 percent and readmissions by 20 percent by the end of 2013. Over the coming months, participating Florida hospitals will tackle 10 targeted areas, including adverse drug events, catheter-associated urinary tract infections, central line-associated bloodstream infections, falls, pressure ulcers, surgical site infections and more.
Through the PfP, FHA has established a hospital engagement network to help hospitals identify ways to improve patient safety and share those best practices among hospitals across the state. The 62 Florida hospitals include All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Broward Health, University of Miami Hospital and Orlando Regional Medical Center.
