Cincinnati Children’s and Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Parkview Health have finalized a joint operating agreement to expand pediatric healthcare access in northern Indiana.
Four things to know:
1. The agreement follows a letter of intent signed in 2024. It joins the operations of Parkview, a 15-hospital nonprofit, community-based health system, with Cincinnati Children’s, a system with more than 19,500 employees. The joint enterprise will cover emergency, inpatient and specialty pediatric care, and aims to reduce patient transfers and travel burdens for families, according to a June 16 news release shared with Becker’s.
2. The agreement builds on more than 15 years of collaboration between the two systems, including telehealth partnerships in pediatric neurosurgery, rheumatology and drug-resistant epilepsy.
3. The goal is to make high-quality pediatric care more accessible to families across northern Indiana and northwest Ohio. “We share a deep commitment to making high-quality care readily accessible to families,” Tony GiaQuinta, MD, physician leader for pediatrics at Parkview Health, said in a joint news release. “And as we work together to shape a new future for pediatric care in the region, we will continue to build on our strong existing relationship,” he said.
4. Cincinnati Children’s has also begun advisory work with Parkview aimed at opening a dedicated pediatric emergency department at Parkview Regional Medical Center in 2027, according to the release.
