ChristianaCare, a four-hospital system based in Wilmington, Del., is expanding its network with specialized pediatric services from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
On April 1, the two organizations launched their affiliation at ChristianaCare’s Center for Women’s & Children’s Health in Newark, Del., which offers pediatric emergency and inpatient care. Through the partnership, CHOP specialists will support additional pediatric and neonatal services, according to a March 31 news release from the health systems.
The affiliation comes amid a nationwide consolidation of pediatric services in adult hospitals, which has prompted several hospital systems to collaborate with children’s health organizations to increase access, particularly for specialty pediatric care.
ChristianaCare and CHOP said they plan to broaden the partnership through expanded subspecialty access for rare and complex diseases and new research and educational opportunities.
