Chicago hospital seeks community input to create healthy, public-friendly campus

Last October, Chicago-based Presence Health Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center conducted workshops with residents of the West Town community to develop a health and wellness master plan for the neighborhood. Thanks to the success of the event, another Presence hospital, Resurrection Medical Center, is holding a second workshop to get tips on how to create a healthy hospital campus on the North Side of Chicago.

The week-long visioning process will begin June 12. The hospital is looking for community members, local business leaders, hospital associates and physicians, government agencies, faith-based organizations and representatives from local schools and youth programs to participate.

“The physicians and staff of Presence Resurrection Medical Center are honored to participate in a process bringing meaningful change to the community we serve,” said PRMC President and CEO Robert Dahl. “This is a way we can demonstrate our long-term commitment to building healthy communities. This is population health in action.”

Once again, Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, a renowned design professional in architecture and town planning and the founder and principal of Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company, will help facilitate sessions throughout the week-long visioning process.
