Central Carolina Hospital Plans $14M ER Expansion, Applies for CON

Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford, N.C., has submitted an application for a certificate of need to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services for a $14 million expansion of its emergency department, according to a report by The Sanford Herald.

The expansion plans include the addition of around 12,500 square feet to the department’s existing 9,500 square feet. It also includes plans to increase the number of emergency treatment areas from 15 to 24.

Construction could begin as early as 2014 and is tentatively scheduled to be completed by fall 2016, according to the report.
