2. The senator’s effort comes as officials and public health advocates have been increasingly critical of sugar as a key contributor to health epidemics like obesity and diabetes, the report states.
3. The legislation proposed by Sen. Monning would require companies like Coca-Cola Co. and PepsiCo. to put warning labels on beverages sold in California that have added sugars and have 75 or more calories per 12 ounces, according to the report.
